Electric guitar amp question?

I have a fender super champ xd. I just got it earlier this year. I have only had it for six months and now im starting to hear this strange sound. It sounds like crackling in my amp. kind of like a burning sound.
It sounds a little like when you change the pickup selection on a guitar but this happens when I’m playing.

I could also hear some hum from the amp. Louder than it used to.

I tried a different guitar. I got less of the crackling but still a little. tried a new cable as well.

This never happened until after I used my guitar amp as a speaker for a VST plugin, (pod farm) and started playing some songs through it since the the interface replaced my sound card.

Do you know if that is the problem or what could be the problem.

Silly. You NEVER plug another insrtument into an amp meant for anything else unless you’re trying to kill it. The only exception is a bass amp. You can plug anything into a bass amp because all the other frequencies are higher. In fact schools use bass amps for students to play on so they dont have to keep replacing amps all the time.
Okay, I’d say yes, you have damaged it and in needs to go in for repairs before it gets any worse. It should still be under warranty but I think you’ll find in the fine print you didn’t read it told you not to plug anything else into it so they dont have to fix it for free (and they probably wont)
There may only be a small problem though and that’s to do with the jack connection, where you plug into the amp. It might be loose and that can be easily fixed (NOT BY YOU-BY THEM!)
This is caused by plugging into the amp when the power is already turned on. You should always have the amps turned OFF before you plug in. I own a recording studio and I couldn’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve gone off at guitarists for plugging into my amps in the “waiting” room with the power on, I can hear the pop and kshharrhhh from anywhere in the building= NOT GOOD. It does a lot of damage so never do it.
Whatever it is, it needs to go back to the pro’s at the place you bought it.
At least you learnt something though huh.
VSTs need keyboard amps.
