I'm considering buying an unfinished LP body style of a project, if I wanted a final lke this … how I can go http://img.alibaba.com/photo/11216540/1997_Gibson_Les_Paul.jpg aobut it? it's just wood stain or varnish or some kind of special paint?
It is a combination of things. Often, first stain the wood to bring out the contrast in the grain. Then a coat of lacquer or varnish. Making this type of finish is not easy – I would suggest getting books in the manufacture of the guitar, and books on wood finishing before trying it.
