I have an Ibanez RG 220B, w / Floyd Rose Tremolo thingie. I have tried to restring, but I had major issues. 1) Is it really necessary to get out of the mother? 2) Is it true that when you restring strings w / severe or less measured before, it screws your intonation, Guitar, etc cause now my D string buzzes. 1) You do not take away the mother. You must to remove the screws from the mother to get the strings among them. The mother is the piece at the end of the fretboard that the strings sit in. 2) It can affect your Intonation, if you were extreme changes strings from each other (very light to heavy for example), but the main problem is how the plane Floyd Rose sits with the guitar body. If you changed a lighter or heavier gauge then there would be a different amount of pull from the strings as the tremolo angle is the front or rear. This is by adjusting the springs on your Floyd (- make repeat to loosen the strings of the right to change, then vote again and check it) fixed. You may have to screw it on in the body or dissolve depending on the thickness of the strings. It can be a bit hit and miss so you have patience and not too large change something in one go.
