GUITAR HELP PLEASE! INTONATION PROBLEM!?

I have been playing instruments for many years now, but I’m better at fixing up small problems using around the house stuff and some tools I buy. My guitar is crap, but I’ve modded it in several different ways. I’m studying to be a sound guy at college and this is the first issue that I cannot fix. When I tune my guitar correctly, the frets aren’t correct, i.e. the fifth fret on my low E is sharper than my A string. This is true of all my strings. I’ve tried manipulating the tuners AND the saddles and nothing I’ve done works. Buying a new guitar is out of the question, as I’m broke. Can anybody help?

Firt of all, to do any intonation, you need to put a FRESH set of strings and once the intonation is done. It stays. If the intonation goes off eventually, you just replace your strings and the intonation will be perfect.

Now, when you hold the 1rst and 15th fret down on the 6th string, their shoudl be a 1/16″ clearance between string and fingerboard. If the string touches the fingerboard, you will need to adjust the truss rod 1/4 turn counter-clockwise to relieve some of the tension on the neck. Keep turning 1/4 turn until proper clearance is acquired.

If the Gap is more than 1/16″, you will need to tighten the truss rod clockwise, 1/4 turn at a time.

Now, for the intonation, if the harmonic at the 12th fret is sharper than the fingered note on the 12th fret, you need to adjust the bridge saddle for that string by moving it back away from the fingerboard. If the note is flat, you need to move it frontward toward the bridge pickup.

That’s it. Nothing special to do but that is the procedure.

New strings, truss rod adjustment and LASTLY, intonation at the bridge.

Now, if the neck is twisted, don’t bother to do anything. How do you know it is twisted ??? Measure one corner of the neck to the opposite corner of the fingerboard nut. Do the same for the other corner. The measurement should be identical and that is how you know if the neck is twisted.
