Guidelines for the performance of a musical instruments

Practicing a musical instrument is properly essential for efficient progress. Practice can be wrong Years to your landing path and paste to be harmful to your body. After 25,000 hours of teaching bass, guitar and piano, here are some basic guidelines to apply.

1. Be there. Let your attention to what you're doing.

2. Be willing to learn. You can not learn if you know you it all to think so.

3. Do you understand what you practice and practice, why you believe it. Keep personal goals in mind and aim for that result.

4. Accept the fact that not happen to learn to play well overnight. Learning musical skills take time. You could certain small movements or learn ear training topics in a few minutes, but you have to invest enough hands-on repetition to develop stable features. A beginner can be anywhere from 20 take up to 70 hours of practice to even begin to get the feel of things.

5. Know your body relax while playing. Cumulative stress is a of the biggest causes of physical problems, rough play and a variety of diseases. There are about 120 muscles, bones and tendons in both forearms and hands, and all these "parts" are learning new motor controls. While you are learning control, you get hooked. It is natural to use force to do something developed to control. Not relaxed when you play, like driving with the brakes is a little depressed. The brake pads are going on, which could wear out really fast and you are bumpy in a ride. Notes and tension when you play. Voltage can occur in any part of your body: hands, wrists, arms, neck, Shoulders, back, face, mouth, legs, feet.

6. Learn how to practice the "right" speed. To play well you something need to develop complete control over what you do. Control is achieved by repetitive actions developed at the speed that you actually do what you do well. If you can not be too quick "grab a hold" of whatever it is and it's like screaming around the corner in a car while driving too quickly in the mountains. Go too fast and you end up in the trees. (And if you ever angry and frustrated during practice I bet you were just going to fast!)

7. Understand the words and symbols on all written documents that you use. (I was a child a piano lesson recently and she slept almost in the middle of her lesson, but was light and awake, when she went in. I sniffed around and discovered that it is a symbol in a song book that her father was that sent them under the table. I found the symbol, defined it for her and she immediately brightened, and came back to life.)

8. Learn to sing in tune, if you do not already, regardless of the instrument They play. If you're not, that's easier to learn, then you might think. It is almost impossible to enjoy playing music when you work your hearing, and the chance to sing to train your ears. I do not sing as a singer, but as a musician. That means being, only able to correct notes with your voice without attention Hit as it sounds.

9. Develop a good sense of rhythm. After good rhythm is essential, probably the most important aspect of being a musician. Good rhythm can be developed with the right drill. If your sense of rhythm is really bad it might take some time, but you can develop a good rhythm Ability to effective teaching and drilling.

10. Realize that people progress at different speeds according to current qualifications, experience Past and the ability. Only compare your self to itself, and when you faster than you are, fine tune your move practice approach and put in more hours.

11. Have fun. Music is not worth it if you can not have fun while doing it. Not all studies are fun – many things are not. But there are always a way to make something of what you do fun and profitable to make.
