Some Popular Musical Games Reviewed
If you have paid attention to the world of console gaming during the last few years, you are probably familiar to the unending assault of music games that have had inundated the video games market. What began with Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero, have today spawned DJ Hero, Karaoke Revolution, Rock Band and several sequels. Music games are a fine way for enjoying casual gaming with friends, besides whetting your musical skills.
Rock Band was among the first games to go beyond the one-man-with-a-guitar format and enable multiple players play multiple instruments simultaneously. The game brought in a whole new audience for music games, making them synonymous to party games. Rock Band 2 expanded on the original, adding more songs, smoother graphics and tighter game play.
The latest installment to the hugely popular Guitar Hero series is Guitar Hero 5. The latest sequel requires players to fret and strum notes when they appear onscreen in a scrolling bar. The game could be played on a variety of difficulty settings, enabling both seasoned veterans and complete novices enjoy the action, besides listening to excellent music.
DJ Hero is an exceptional music game from the stable of GH5. The game allows players to cut, scratch and mix their favorite tracks of several electronic and hip-hop artists including Grandmaster Flash, Daft Punk, Eminem, DJ Shadow, DJ AM and Cut Chemist. Players can spin virtual records, cross-fade between songs, press buttons for creating beats and scratch the tracks for creating interesting new remixes, thereby scoring points. The music game has head-to-head multiplayer, career and cooperative modes. The game can be played on Xbox, PS3, Wii and 360.
With fresh entrants making their presence felt in the world of music games, players are spoilt for a choice as regards to the number of fascinating games available in the markets today.
