Ibanez Guitar Jobs

How would I go about repairing my Ibanez Talman?
There is a chip through the finish, down to the wood, on the bottom portion of my Ibanez Talman. The finish is starting to get cracks radiating away from it, and it is flaking away. How would one go about doing a DIY repair job on this, or what would a guitar technician or repair shop do if I brought it in? By DIY repair, I mean something where the end result would be semi-decent.
Epoxy probably wouldn’t be the best for it – the body itself is made out of a compressed saw dust, or something like that. The hairline cracks radiating from the chip would not be repaired through the epoxy.
No, it isn’t an acoustic. It’s an early 90’s MIJ Ibanez Talman, the original run. It is a white, mustang/jaguar styled guitar with lipstickc pickups. It’s my favorite guitar I currently own.
i suppose you could use epoxy (they make different colors and its clear too)… that stuff works on everything.
