Want to learn bass, but know nothing about music … where to start?

I'm finally giving in learning the bass guitar. I love Flea from the Chili Peppers and is the main reason why I want the bass to learn. Heres the catch I have no basis on music, what so ever, notes, messages, etc. Where should I start? Also What is a good entry-level bass and amp?

First of all learn to read notes. This means looking at the sheet music online (I think for the bass Clef you'll want bass, although I'm sure not. I would also learn treble clef.) Then, learn the different rhythms that together with the notes (quarter, Eighth notes, half notes, etc.) It is important that you know the basics before you actually start playing. Just let them know yet, learning an instrument because of an obsession with a band playing players not to get very far. Learning a musical instrument is really difficult. Learning to read music to learn another language is to read and it is something we practice every day. It is not something that can be achieved without a passion for music. But good luck:)
