Their first semester in college because she was in an English course of their remedial measures Dyslexia, which resulted in a low score on the placement test placed. The first day of the course recognized the error and their professor had placed her in an advanced English class, taught by the professor. Kenyon spent two years as an English major and an editor for the school paper. She applied three times for admission to the Creative Writing program, but was never approved. After her third attempt, the professor asked her not re-apply because the program is designed for students who have a serious future in publishing had. When Kenyon was 20, she decided it was time to her experience writing for magazines and take parlay it into the book market. As they send her manuscript and prepared them to publishers, lost her older brother, the one strong supporter of their work died, and write a devastated Kenyon desire. That same brother had borrowed a typewriter from his roommate while the Christmas holidays in the school so that they type up the manuscript for submission. His last words to her were about her writing: "I know this is a winner Baby. I can not wait to see it in print. "The manuscript of her novel was born later that night.
Resume Writing
Three years later moved Kenyon to Richmond, Virginia, married her longtime boyfriend. While driving her things in her husband came to her old novels and writings, and asked her why she no longer . Leave Kenyon said he had to write to her request, her brother died, and packed away their manuscripts. Due to the recession Kenyon no work of any kind was found. A friend childhood mentioned that the magazine she was editing requires written several articles and offered it to Kenyon. Though Kenyon was not a word of fiction since the death of her brother written Kenyon agreed to write the article. As soon as they began the work that they once again began to feel that writing was something she had to do. Although they had very little money after her husband found out that to write it again, he immediately bought her a Brother word processor. He put in a corner of her apartment on a card table and with a ten-dollar steno chair.
Two years later, Kenyon sold her first book, Born of the night, come with five more sales soon. She won several awards and several bestseller lists, but after the release of her sixth novel, she found herself not to write another contract to get. For four and a half years (1994 – 1998) Kenyon was not to sell any of their manuscripts.
Hardships
During her career, crashed Kenyon was in the middle of a great turmoil in their personal Life. Her father died in February 1995 of cancer. A very difficult pregnancy cost them the job. The baby was 7 weeks early and had to spend six weeks the NICU Kenyon intensive care unit and survived just this delivery. Because her husband was just finishing school and with her disability and high medical bills, the family "all lost [we] had was not much. "As a result, were the couple and their severely ill son to live forced out of their car in the parking lot of a hotel in Columbus, MS, to they were finally able to find accommodation in a rundown apartment. Later that year, her mother was diagnosed with cancer, and Kenyon was pregnant again. This second Pregnancy led to serious medical issues, and what Kenyon for the majority of the time of hospitalization. With her mother because her condition can attend, to visit her son and her husband spend most of time under restricted care of her son and his medical issues, turned her back Kenyon fiction, where the two books that were ultimately written relaunch her career.

Her agent, who had remained with her through all the years they had not sold, still present their work, but each submission was rejected.
Careers
Fiction
In 1997, Kenyon was the rejection she credits with the relaunch of her career and for always change the course of her writing style. At that time, with the hottest novels have appeared on the market, Regency-set historical novels. Since its critics were partners at the time well-known authors in the field, sat down and wrote like a novel Kenyon. Her agent liked it and critique partner, but it was the manuscript, collected their rejection of the worst of their Career. "No one in this publisher be interested in this writer ever present. Not back to work for us." Kenyon was again devastated. Since they were still the live in poverty, Kenyon promised her husband she would never spend another cent in pursuit of a dream that was obviously not intended.
But she could not stop write. This rejection spurred them to respect stop what was for sale to New York. She spent the next few months writing books for themselves while listening to the characters, not the market reports. When it was finished, Kenyon sent her latest work to their agents who did not like the manuscript at all and refused to continue representing them. Believe her career was over, and left with no money to put it on their own to pursue their work Kenyon set aside.
A few weeks later saw an ad Kenyon in a magazine, writing Laura Cifelli at HarperCollins was looking for manuscripts. Cifelli had since Kenyon's agent at the beginning of her career, sent a single Kenyon Query letter to them. Kenyon offered Cifelli two books. The first in the Dark-Hunter series and the one her agent she had left. Cifelli dropped the paranormal idea because there is no market for such stories. But she asked to see the historical. Kenyon borrowed money from a neighbor on the manuscript to New York and Cifelli send Kenyon offered three book contract. . Since the past was very different from the early paranormal and science fiction novels of her career, when asked Cifelli Kenyon would mind an alias. Kenyon which now was superstitious about her real name since her first trip was so short-lived, chose Kinley MacGregor (The irony is that, although the name appeared MacGregor on all the bestseller lists lists First, it would be under the name Kenyon, that they would win their biggest awards). The MacGregor part a tribute to Scottish Kenyon's ancestry and her family who was there for a time, forbidden to use their real names because of their conflict with a rival clan. The name seemed more used as suitable for them to rebuild their careers.
Even as Kenyon Kinley MacGregor gave their manuscripts and put them on their work vampire stories. At the urging of her editor, she commissioned a new drug for late 1998. Although these funds have never represented paranormal before and was reluctant to do because there is no market for convinced this kind of novel she Kenyon in front of them. The Dark-Hunter novels have been transformed from every house. Some even have more than once. But this summer, found in the agent home for her at St. Martin's Press, Jennifer Enderlin when purchased.
