Recording Bass Guitar Microphones

The best home recording studio hardware?
I'm doing a program of great value 2 to record, but I want to know what hardware is needed. My computer is a (regular brand new) computer with Windows Vista. I need a microphone, but it was not safe time to get a sound card and a normal plug microphone and run the firewire from the soundboard to a computer or for only a USB microphone. What other options I can use? I just want to spend a maximum of 300 on the mic and everything I need, besides the program. I will record my acoustic bass guitar and be doing the voices. So that has to be good for recording music. Thanks
