Vintage Guitar Effect Pedals

best distortion pedals?
the only team I have at this moment is a fender bullet 150 and has some distortion, but they the generally low sound quality. I'm using a vintage Gibson SG with some modifications to what are some of the best distortion pedals that sound great well with my guitar? I've heard Digitech Whammy WH-1 and Pro-co cats were good, but I really am not very good with technical issues so any opinions?
